The Bendas Brigade will be the core of the change in the 3d Congressional District - Republicans, Independents and Democrats who believe that our great nation is headed in the wrong direction. To challenge an entrenched incumbent requires “feet on the ground” and, to be very blunt, money.

Dan Lipinski “inherited” his seat from his father in a most classic example of nepotism. His dad, a long time and respected Congressman, decided that Dan who was teaching in the south, needed to succeed him. But his chances of winning a primary battle if the elder Lipinski announced his retirement before the primary were problematic, he would have faced a primary challenge. So the elder Lipinski waited until after he won the primary using his reputation and PAC money, then he announced that he would retire after the current term. His cronies were allowed to select his replacement on the ballot, his son. Don’t you wish that you had a dad who gave you a seat in Congress? Dan Lipinski stepped right into dad’s job as your Congressional representative in a district carefully carved out for his dad, and assumed control over the money making machine that has ensured his reelection.

But times are changing, the Democratic Party under Nancy Pelosi has shifted so far to the left that it is virtually unrecognizable to Independents and to conservative and moderate Democrats. Our current Congressman shows independence on issues when the vote is not close, but he does not buck the extreme left wing of the Pelosi party if the vote is close, e.g. his insistence that he would not support the Health Care bill if it had a public option, then he voted for it when it became clear that the vote would be very, very close (it passed the House by a mere three votes, one of which was Dan Lipinski’s).

It is time for him to return to his teaching career, and for a Republican, Michael Bendas, to be elected to Congress to fight for fiscal responsibility, national security and a return to personal responsibility.

Join the Bendas Brigade, donate a few bucks and some time, recruit some like minded citizens so that we, together, can fight for an end of reckless spending that is crushing the dreams of our future generations.
